A Message From Penny Wallis

This year marks the 10th year for the Habitat for Humanity-Boone County, Indiana - Women Build. I am excited for this year to be my 6th year as a Team Leader and my 8th year building a home for a deserving, hard-working Boone County family in need of affordable housing. I love the camaraderie with my teammates as we build together and the sense of excitement each of us gets upon learning a new skill (using a power saw, reading an electrical wiring diagram or installing soffit and windows)! And, I love the heartwarming/ emotional house dedication when the project is completed and the family receives the keys to their new home. With this year's theme - "Celebrating 10 years of Grit and Grace," I am proud to know that my involvement in the Women Build for so many years has allowed me to show "grace" to a deserving family as I often "gritted my teeth" while lifting something heavy or when kindly smiling at someone to encourage their making a generous donation towards the building costs of the project. As this is the 10th year for the Women Build and, with construction costs continuing to rise, I am challenging myself to increase my fundraising goal to a total of $10,000 (I'm leading 2 teams, so $5,000 per team)! No doubt I will be gritting my teeth a lot trying to meet this lofty goal! That said, I hope you will be able to support me in this effort and any donation, whether it be financial or encouragement and prayers, will be gratefully appreciated. Thank you for your support and grace in coming alongside me for this year's Women Build. With much gratitude - Penny

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Boone County

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County envisions a world where everyone has a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home. As Christ’s hands and feet, we put this vision into action by building and improving homes alongside individuals and families who are working toward housing stability. We believe that a home is more than four walls—it is a foundation for strength, stability, and opportunity. Through partnerships with volunteers, donors, businesses, and community organizations, we create pathways to sustainable homeownership and help break the cycle of poverty. Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has been offering a hand up, not a handout. Our partner families invest in their homes through sweat equity and work side by side with volunteers to build a place they are proud to call home. To date, we have built 82 homes and helped more than 250 hardworking adults and children achieve greater housing stability and the dream of homeownership.

Together, we are building more than houses—we are building hope, opportunity, and stronger communities.
