A Message From Penny Wallis
This year marks the 11th year for the Habitat for Humanity-Boone County, Indiana - Women Build and I am excited for this year to be my 7th year as a Team Leader as well as my 9th year building a home for a deserving, hard-working Boone County family in need of affordable housing.
I love the camaraderie with my teammates as we build together and the sense of excitement each of us gets upon learning a new skill (using a power saw, reading an electrical wiring diagram or installing soffit and windows)! And I love the heartwarming/ emotional house dedication when the project is complete and the family receives the keys to their new home.
This year's theme is “Calling all Wonder Women” to build Habitat Boone County’s 75th home in the newly established Grace Fields housing development in Whitestown, Indiana. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to participate in building one of the first homes at Grace Fields which will eventually house 24 Boone County families.
Building a home comes with many costs so I am challenging myself to raise a total of $1,000 to assist in funding this project. Each team of 10 women is asked to contribute $2,500 towards the total build expenses (over $100,00) and I hope you will be able to support me in this effort. Any donation, whether it be financial or thoughts of encouragement and prayers, will be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for your support in coming alongside me for this year's WONDERful Women Build!
With much gratitude – Penny

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Boone County
Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We work towards this vision, being Christ’s Hands and Feet, by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of decent and affordable homes. We have chosen to create opportunities for people to have sustainable housing by partnering with volunteers, donors, and corporations to break the cycle of poverty. Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has been offering a hand up not a hand out enabling our partner families to achieve pride in home ownership working side by side with volunteers to build houses. We have built 70 homes helped over 200 hard working adults and children with their dream of housing stability.
