A Message From Kim Lunato

Many of you know my story includes family. My grandfather was heavily involved in the early days of Habitat for Humanity, International as the first President of the Board and along with my Uncle Stephen was at the first International site in Zaire. His legacy has grown exponentially ... my brother volunteered in Indianapolis during college and he & his son have volunteered for HFH in Massachusetts,... legacy. My mom and my sister have joined our Women Build team year after year as well as have joined builds (along with my sister's family) in their home community of Fort Wayne... legacy. My daughters have joined women build a couple times too and my husband and girls have helped on Wall Build days...legacy. Now the gals on our WB team have been repeats for many of the 10 WB homes we have built and many of them have also included family members in other builds or on Wall Builds... legacy. Many of our supporters are repeat donors... legacy. To build one of the first houses in our new development, Grace Fields... on LEGACY LANE is not lost on me. My Grandfather's legacy continues. Habitat remains a robust Work in Progress. Hence the name of our team!!!

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County envisions a world where everyone has a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home. As Christ’s hands and feet, we put this vision into action by building and improving homes alongside individuals and families who are working toward housing stability. We believe that a home is more than four walls—it is a foundation for strength, stability, and opportunity. Through partnerships with volunteers, donors, businesses, and community organizations, we create pathways to sustainable homeownership and help break the cycle of poverty. Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has been offering a hand up, not a handout. Our partner families invest in their homes through sweat equity and work side by side with volunteers to build a place they are proud to call home. To date, we have built 82 homes and helped more than 250 hardworking adults and children achieve greater housing stability and the dream of homeownership.

Together, we are building more than houses—we are building hope, opportunity, and stronger communities.
