A Message From Jill Robertson

Habitat for Humanity is more than building a physical home for a family that needs affordable housing. Volunteers teach future homeowners budgeting skills, home maintenance, how to save more and spend less, and so much more prior to their home build approval. Two mentors walk alongside them for several weeks providing guidance and answering questions, one for everyday living guidance, the other for financial guidance. I served as a financial mentor many years ago. So many applicants are single moms living with the family. Volunteers assist experienced craftsmen in constructing the home, some local businesses provide reduced or donated labor and materials to provide an affordable housing option for those living in substandard housing.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Boone County

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County envisions a world where everyone has a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home. As Christ’s hands and feet, we put this vision into action by building and improving homes alongside individuals and families who are working toward housing stability. We believe that a home is more than four walls—it is a foundation for strength, stability, and opportunity. Through partnerships with volunteers, donors, businesses, and community organizations, we create pathways to sustainable homeownership and help break the cycle of poverty. Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has been offering a hand up, not a handout. Our partner families invest in their homes through sweat equity and work side by side with volunteers to build a place they are proud to call home. To date, we have built 82 homes and helped more than 250 hardworking adults and children achieve greater housing stability and the dream of homeownership.

Together, we are building more than houses—we are building hope, opportunity, and stronger communities.
