A Message From Anna's Purple Hummingbirds

We all have a story. The common thread in ours is Anna, the mother and grandmother of some of our team members. Anna loved purple and she loved hummingbirds. Anna also loved having family and friends enjoy good meals and good times in her home. She tragically passed away in 2018 after suffering a fall due to faulty construction in a public building. So it is very important to us that a home be well built for a family to live there safely and make their own wonderful memories. This is the 4th year a team of family and friends are building a home working together to honor our memories of Anna and we know she would be very pleased to know that we are helping our community as we remember her. Will you join our efforts to provide a home for a family by donating any amount that you can? When all of us work together, we can make something amazing happen.

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County envisions a world where everyone has a decent, safe, and affordable place to call home. As Christ’s hands and feet, we put this vision into action by building and improving homes alongside individuals and families who are working toward housing stability. We believe that a home is more than four walls—it is a foundation for strength, stability, and opportunity. Through partnerships with volunteers, donors, businesses, and community organizations, we create pathways to sustainable homeownership and help break the cycle of poverty. Since 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has been offering a hand up, not a handout. Our partner families invest in their homes through sweat equity and work side by side with volunteers to build a place they are proud to call home. To date, we have built 82 homes and helped more than 250 hardworking adults and children achieve greater housing stability and the dream of homeownership.

Together, we are building more than houses—we are building hope, opportunity, and stronger communities.
